Part of the fundi were appropriated by the County Court, while other money waa raised by the Medford Commercial Club. Reveral firms and Individuate also subscribed to the fund, but later repudiated their prom ises to pay. Now the Medford Com mercial Club la endeavoring to collect oa these subscriptions. The total mount Involved tn these delinquent ac counts Is la excess of 115.000. More than $35,000 already has been expend ed, but half tbe work ha not been done. The proposed road Is St miles long. Everyone who has visited Crater Lake has gone Into ecstasies over Its soenlo grandeur, and all are enthust sstlo supporters of the scheme to build the road from the valley belo to Its shores. They declare that with ample facilities for reaching- this natural beauty spot. It will become as famous and aa popular aa Niagara Falls. Yel lowstone 1'ark. the Grand Canyon or any of the other well-known attrac tions of the country. The lake Itself Is one of Nature's marvels, and tbe scenery surrounding It Is unexcelled. Crater Lake cannot bo compared with any other work of nature. The eu premacy of each natural creation etaads undisputed. Crater Lake has a unique place among tbe world's won ders. During the session of 1901 and 1101 It was again aet In motion and on May 22. Iv2. a bill waa paaeed creating Crater Lake National Park. Since then It has been under Federal supervision. Recently efforts have been made to secure additional Government aid for Improvement of the park, ao that It may receive the same share of atten tion that le given to other National acentc reserves.
