Upon Thanksgivings Day; It was the day of days to him: His table was his pride. He loved to see good cheer without And sustenance inside. 2 The turkey was the featured prize That occupied his mind, As he had searched the town to get The largest he could find. It truly was a mammoth bird, And really we're afraid To tell its true dimensions or Exactly what it weighed.. . . - 3-The early courses quickly passed. And papa warning gave That all beneath their jackets should A goodly section save To stow the famous turkey in, And all were well assured They might expect the largest and The best to be procured. 4. But, in the meantime, in the yard "Poor, lonesome Theodore Found nothing much 10 cheer him up Or to be thankful for. Old Towser, he who dwelt next door And Fido, famed for rats, Assisted Teddy at his meal, Along with several cats. VII 7 ji --trp Now, papa proved with bricks to be A most imperfect shot. , The more evasive cats he missed The more enraged he got. He rudely treated Theodore As Cynthianna feared, But when her pet stood up and begged His anger disppeared. 8 The guests had turkey just the same, For pa took means to see . The banquet was continued at A nearby hostlery. Concerning Teddy, Cynthia said: "He many thanks should give That papa's bricks all missed him And he's still allowed to live." .When quaking butler broke the news Of Teddy's shocking theft, Dear papa acted like a man Of senses quite bereft.
