The Bungalow is dark, and will remain so until August JI. when "Polly of the Circus," a splen did offering, comae In for four per formances; while Immediately follow ing we will have the notorious "Girl From Rector's." HERE'S A BlXIi YOTPIX LIKE Orpheum's List of Advance Vaude ville Acta for Current Week. The Mil which opens at the Orphenm Monday matinee, August 2, Is perhaps one of the strongeat in vaudeville today. It Is headed by the beautiful Curson Sisters, one of the daintiest and meet daring acts ever witnessed. The spe cialty of the Curzon Sisters is unlike anything seen in vaudeville. They are two attractive young women who per form beautiful evolutions, first as but terflies, and later as filmy-gowned fairies. They whirl about in wide cir cles, swing in dizzy mazes and finish with a skirt dance In the air. Hanging by their teeth and balancing their en tire weight thus suspended is an ef fective and remarkable feature of thl act, which created a sensation at the big New York Hippodrome during the Curzon Sisters engagement there. Prank Mostyn Kelly, assisted by Al bert Green, Is presenting a comedietta entitled "Tom and Jerry." It is chiefly humorous, but there is aa underlying vein of seriousness that gives to it an entertaining element of dramatic inter est. The Girl and the Pearl," which Is styled a musical flirtation, presented by Wilbur Mack and Kella Walker, is a lively and diverting novelty. Mr. Mack is a well-known author, having written a number of popular songs. Including such old favorites as "There's None 80 Sweet as Sally," "Mandy, I Lov You, "I've Been Told," "Just Suppose," and others which he Introduces in this new act assisted by Miss Walker. The novelty transparent painter, J. Rubens, the Munich academlsn. devotes himself particularly to painting and in a short space of time paints a beautiful landscape appearing In all its morning glory; he then changes Into a Winter seme, and then a landscape with the setting sun. This will be Herr Ru ben's first appearance in America, he having been imported expressly for tour over this circuit. Grace Armond is a beautiful young; character commedlenne. Her specialty Is "The Foolish Liz of Vaudeville." a charming and original little sketch without a trace of dullness. Cooper and Robinson are colored comedians, who rank next to Williams and Walker, and Cole and Johnson, as representee entertainers of their race. They have a decided style of their own which is equally as funny. If not still more amusing, than the others men tioned. Orpheum matinees daily. singer, will sing his latest ballads and offer his freshest comedy. Bome of his popular songs are, 'When the Right Lit tle Girl Comes Along." "Always Tfcmk Kindly of Mother" and "Cp In aa Air ship." There will be an illustrated song by Fred Bauer and new motion pictures. This afternoon and evening will be the last of the present bill. GRAND HAS RED-LETTER BILL Wide Variety of Acts on This Week's Programme. If there Is anything In reputations and recommendations of merit, the bill which opens at the Grand tomorrow afternoon will be a red-letter event In every re spect. Nothing but the roost flattering reports have been received on these acts and Sullivan & Consldlne are determined that the standard at the Grand shall be kept at the top notch. "Coma Back to Erin," a tabloid Irish romance, will be the headline act and will be offered by Charles Mack and company. This is a picturesque little playlet, which shows the lakes of Killarney In the background and there is the cottage of Kate Kearney on the stage. In history Kate Kearney was a famous beauty, and Kate Is the heroine of the little story told In "Come Back to Erin." There Is a short but absorbing plot, romantic and seasoned with love and humor. The characters are types of the Irish people. Mrs. Charles Peters, a veteran actress, will essr.y the role of Mrs. Burke, an Irish mother. The scenery for the sketch mas especially painted at Dublin. In' the way of sensations the Ernesto sisters will provide a thrill with their tlpnt-wire act. This Is said to be one of the greatest wire acts that has been seen on the Pacific Coast, and the work ef the young women Is little short of marvelous. The Ernesto sisters have a big reputation in Europe. Scott and Davis have a dancing, com edy and singing act in which they Intro duce many of the latest song hits, one playing the piano while the other does some fancy dancing. Cogan and Bancroft are skatorial come dians, who probably know more about tricks, on roller skates than any other two people in the country. Harry Taylor, comedian, composer and rCSICAL ACT IS HEADLINER Many Other Good Offering An nounced for Pantages. One of the most Important offerings booked for local vaudeville will appear at Pantages tomorrow. This act of note is a musical one In which Klein, Ott Brothers and ICicnolson win entertain on saxaphones, xylophones, cornets, trombones and other brass Instruments. The quartet Is of international repute and each member was a star on the vaudeville stage before joining in the quartet. Selections from many of the latest musical comedies, ragtime bits and melodies of grand opera will be on their programme. Lee Beggs and company recently won success, in the East, in the clever sketch, "Old Folks at Home." and for true humor, heart-touching sentiment and good acting, it Is said to be unsurpassed. and theatergoers may thank the manage. ment for the opportunity to witness the performance. La Mlllas and Oreo appear In the act unique "Mak-Na, or the Tourist Love Dream," and with the startling electrical effects and marvelous dancing, the act will create as much of a sensation here. as in France, from where the girls came 'direct to the Pantages circuit, playing to crowded houees wherever they have appeared. Charles Sanders, a singing comedian of no small ability will warble all the latest topical song-hits, and do some eccentric, dancing. A tight-wire act of note win he given by the Three Olivers, of circus fame, and some of tho feats are ' remarkably hazardous. Critics call Sampson and Douglas two of the cleverest Joy creators on the vaudeville stage, ans to hear the duo is to chase dull care away. xne rantagescope, ieo White In an Illustrated song, and the excellent or chestra will be additional features. It Is rather unusual to see graphically represented on the stage of a theater a real circus, with real horses and ponies, real lady bareback riders, real tumblers. clowns and all the paraphernalia of the sawdust tinp, and yet that is what will be truly portrayed at the Bungalow Theater Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August, 12. 13, 14. It is made possible by the Ingenuity and cleverness of Frederick Thompson, a young man who, four or five years ago, went down to New York and, by his dash and dare, revolutionized the then prevailing big amusement enterprises in and around the metropolis. He produced the wonders of Luna Park, Coney Island and the. marvels of the huge Hippo drome In New York City. He was a sort of theatrical Moses, was this young Lochinrar. who cama out of the wilds and Invented realistic scenes on a pro digious scale. He had Margaret Mayo write a play on ideas he furnished and then put in them the realism that will be seen by Portland theatergoers. Polly of the Circus" is a very human play, with a quaint tenderness about It. and a continuous interest that holds and entertains.
