A three-etory building ill be erected on

entire ground floor of the building will be
devoted to a punlio market of a class as
yet unknown In Portland. The remainder
ill be devoted to business offices. De

ranged within the next few weeks. Ac
tual construction will be started, soon
after the first of the year.

lic retail market in Portland as there
is anywhere," said Mr. Robe yesterday.
"Two sides of the ground floor of the
building will be enclosed with glass,
making it attractive. The huckstering
feature, that Is prominent in many mar
kets, will be entirely eliminated. There
will be two entrances on Washington
street and four on First street. As the
location is handy to the various streetcar
lines of the city, the market will be con
venient to- residents of the various sec
tions of . Portland.
The.Kamm property has laid Idle for
years and tlu leasing and the erection of
a building will improve its appearance
to a great extent. The ground Is lOnx
104 In size. Its location is especially suit
ed to a public market and tne assurance
is given that the establishment will be
of a .character that will be a credit to
any city of the oountry.
The terms of the lease and the names
of the Eastern people who acaulre the
use of the Kamm property for ten years
are withheld for the present. The Broad
acres Farm Products Company has its
headquarters at Everett. Wash.
