At the meet ing of tha Lower Albina Push Club, Fri day night, a petition asking the Council to place on the ballot at the next elec tion the resolution asking that the bridge across the Willamette River be placed at Hancock street was submitted. It is JO feet long and boars about lvX names. It Is not an Initiative petition, but mere ly addressed to the Council asking a chance to vota on the location of the proposed bridge. At this meeting the following permanent officers were elected: President, George Lewis; vice president, Fred Townsend; secretary. A. C. Lewis: treasurer, L. M. Davis. The committee on constitution reported prog ress and was given further time. The new club has about 100 members. Bodt Arrives From East. The body of Paul E. Smith, who died recently at Xotre Dame, Ind.. reached Portland yes terday. The funeral will be held tomor row morning at 6t- Mary's Cathollo Church, In Albina, with a solemn requiem high mass. He was a graduato of Co lumbia University and Rev. Father Hugh Gallagher, vice-president of the college, will be celebrant at the mass. He will be assisted by other professors of the university. Father McKean acting as d aeon and Father Heiser as sub deacon. The students and faculty of the college will attend the funeral In a body, a last tribute of respect for the young man, who was popular alike with professors and students. Institution Thanks Donors. The management of the Children's Home wishes to thank the generous public for the donations sent the institution on the Thanksgiving holiday.
