The six boats and launches were strung
with gayly colored Chlneae lanterns,
which, added to the display of fire
works from the small crafts, gave a
most beautiful and brilliant effect, not
unlike a miniature Venice. The boats
were filled with guests, and the air re
sounded with songs and happy volcee,
accompanied by the soft strains from
stringed, instruments. Hundreds of
spectators occupied positions on the
bridge and along the banks of the
beautiful little Necanicum stream.
After two hours spent on the river, the
party was landed and repaired to the
beaoh, where a huge pyramidal bonfire
awaited them. Watermelon and a typ
ical bonfire luncheon were served. The

ranged about the room. The'-decera
tions were very elaborate, having been
sent .from 'Portland bv Mr. -Lew fof
the occasion. The candles, service and
napkins, as well as the hand-decorated
place cards, and -the decorations of
sweet peas and carnations were In
lovely tones ot pink. The little hostess
and her -friends were dressed in the
same soft pink shades, and the Ices,
bon-bons and cakes carried out the
general color scheme. Lucille received
many beautiful and unique gifts. There
were 36 guests who partook of nor hos
