North Beach is swinging into mid-season
glory. The cool air and bracing winds
are wonderfully exhilarating after the
heat of the city., and the steamers Potter
and Hassalo bring crowds on every trip.
Parsons Orchestra Is here and will re
main throughout August. Besides the
dances and social aiTalrs there is every
imaginable sport for the amusement of
Summer guests. Bowling, tennis, fishing
with fish a plenty, automoblling along the
20-mlle course of hard beach sand, riding,
driving, a chance game of croquet, story
telling on the lawns, bathing in the surf,
straw rides, bonfires, you may find
amusements galore for every hour of the
day. .
Great preparations are going torwora
for the tennis .tournament which will be
held here during the third week in Au
gust, and the hotels are already booking
guests for the event.

daily. Among the parties this past week

ture of a picnic, with basket luncheon

the evening, after a most enjoyable out

There are no end of good camping
places at Ocean Park, and each' one Is

Roseburg yesterday morning. From
there they will go to Bandon, on the
Coast, for a week, and then back to
Cow Creek Canyon. They will be gone
two weeks.
Mr. Clarage H. Himes and his mother
returned, last Wednesday from Eugene
whither they went several days before
to visit Mrs. S. J. Doty, an old schoolmate
of the latter many years ago at Eola,
Polk County. ,

woman of this city, has Just returned

A. W. Lambert, of the " East Side, re
turned a few days ago from a trip of
several days' drive in the Nehalem Val

from a three-weeks' outing at Seaside,
where she greatly enjoyed the hospital
