weeks. The Forest Grove branch la

of W. S. Barstow & Co., of. New York.
Portland and Toronto, Canada. This
firm constructed the main line to Sa
lem and has engineering projects on
foot in all parts of the United States
and Canada. William 8. Turner Is the
local manager of the firm, of which
W. 6. Barstow, who is well known In
Portland, is president.

The corner-stone of the reinforced concrete building of Orient Lodge, No. 17. I. O. O. F-, will be laid this
afternoon at 3 o'clock on the southeast corner of East Sixth and East Alder streets by the srrand lodge offi
cers. The officers who will officiate are as fellows: Grand Master Edward Hostetler, The Dalles; Grand
Warden Thomas F. Ryan, Oregon City; Grand Secretary E. E. Sharon, Portland; Grand Treasurer O. D.
Doar.e, The Dalles; Past Grand Master Richard Scott, Milwaukie; Grand Chaplain Rev. Thomas J. Elkln, Port

This building will be 30x100. two stories high. The foundation Is completed and the workmen are lay
ing the floor of the second story. On the lower floor there will be' rooms for business purposes, while the
lodge apartments hall and banquet room will be on the second floor. Foundation and walls are being
built so two or more stories may be added when required. A conservative course was. adopted In plan
ning the building. The cost of the structure will be $23,000. Robert Andrews. N. P. Tomlinson, A. O. Sinks,

Orient lodge has 300 members and is strong financially. There will be no debt on its building when it is
finished. The lot on which the structure is being built cost J330O,' but the lodge could have sold It for
I700J a year later had It desired to sell. It is expected that the building will be ready for occupancy by
the first of the year. Golden Rula Encampment, Utopia. No. 64, and Omega Rebekah Lodge, No. 67, will
have quarters In the new structure.
