Page 2 May 22, 2024 The in Week Review Alleged Misconduct by Teacher Police are investigating reports of inap- propriate behavior towards students by a teacher at Centennial High School. The allegations were reported to school staff earlier this week. The Gresham Police De- partment is working with the Centennial School District and the case has been as- signed to a detective for investigation. The involved teacher has been placed on leave. Summer Zoo Nights Begins Soon Behavioral Health Resource Center Reopens On May 13, Multnomah County reopened the Behavioral Health Resource Center Day Center and Shelter, resuming normal operations after closing May 6 to install necessary fire protection upgrades and to support required certification training for provider staff. Staff from the Mental Health and Addiction Association of Oregon be- gan distributing entry tickets from the Re- ferral Van in Old Town. Up to 25 people at a time are admitted and provided three hours of access to the Day Center for peer services, shower, laundry, bathroom, mail, computer and other services. The Bridge Program welcomes back participants who were relocated during the construction and connect them to behavioral health and housing resources. Summer is just around the corner, and the Oregon Zoo is here for it! Zoo Nights takes place Friday evenings from June 21 through Aug. 23, with live local music, food carts, animal experiences and activi- ties for all ages. Food and snacks will be available, including the ever-popular el- ephant ears, plus a selection of local beer and wine for adults. Zoo Nights is a special event and is not included with regular day- time admission. Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Zoo Nights features live music on the lawn at 6:30 p.m. and activi- ties taking place from 5 p.m. on. New Grant High Phone Policy Beginning this Fall, students at a Grant High School will be required to lock up their phones and smart watches for the en- tire school day. Students will be assigned a personnel lockable pouch called "Yondr." The new policy will require every stu- dent to secure their phone and smartwatch their assigned Yondr pouch upon arrival at school. At the end of their school day, students will have access to unlocking sta- tions to open the pouches. Students will be responsible for bringing their assigned Yondr pouch to and from school each day. Multnomah Co. Reports Potential Breach The Multnomah County Health Depart- ment today began notifying 1,092 Health Center clients that their protected health information may have been accessed. The clients’ Social Security numbers and drivers’ license numbers were not ac- cessed. The breach impacts clients seen at different health center locations. Affected clients who receive a letter should enroll in a free identity theft protection program offered by the County. Missing California Man Found Dead The Kelso Police Department has con- firmed that the body found in the Cowee- man River Saturday afternoon belongs to missing Californian, Shun Riley, who was in the area for work. Riley was last seen leaving a Comfort Inn & Suites at the Three Rivers Mall complex by Manasco Drive on May 9 around 2:40 a.m., accord- ing to the Kelso Police Department. In the security camera footage, Riley appeared to be in “extreme distress,” police said. The cause of his death has not been determined and the investigation is ongoing.
