Executive director Ivory Mathews is thrilled to announce that next month, Home forward will be opening the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waitlist application for the first time since 2016, and so that thousands more can access rent assistance. From 9:00 AM June 5, through 11:59 PM June 9, the waitlist ap- plication for the Section 8 Hous- ing Choice Voucher waitlist will be open on our website at www. homeforward.org. After the application period closes, they will conduct a lottery to select 2,000 applicants, at ran- dom, to add to the waitlist. As a Ivory Mathews Chief Executive Director of the largest provider of affordable housing in Oregon reminder this is not a guarantee of immediate assistance, and is not a waitlist for physical apart- ment units, but it is the first step towards accessing the rent assis- tance voucher resource. The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program is one of the most effective tools Home For- ward has to combat the ongoing housing affordability crisis in this country, and to promote housing stability. They know that the need for affordable rent far exceeds the available assistance resources, and we are committed to doing our part to address this need. With this waitlist opening, They are taking an important step towards making sure more members of the community can afford their often burdensome housing costs. The organization is also com- mitted to promoting equity and justice in all areas of our work, and do recognize the dispropor- tionate impact that housing inse- curity has on historically margin- alized communities, particularly Black and Indigenous people of color. Home Forward will work to ensure that our programs and ser- vices are accessible and respon- sive to the needs of all members of our community, centering those who experience the greatest barri- ers to accessing resources. Redman is also being honored with a 20 Under 40 award, handed out each year to 20 rising business stars in the Eugene-Springfield community. Recipients of the 20 Under 40 award are recognized for their commitment to career excellence and changing the community through innovation, creativi- ty, and hard work, according to award organizers. In her expanded role at SEL- CO, Jessica will be responsible for managing the cash management team while spearheading SEL- CO’s efforts to expand its custom- er base through targeted sales and marketing initiatives. Jessica Redman new team leader for Selco Community Credit Union Redman joined SELCO in 2012 as a branch teller, transitioned to SELCO’s Commercial & Busi- ness Banking division in 2015, and has steadily progressed since. In 2022, she was named vice pres- ident, cash management officer of the division before recently being promoted to team leader, too. Red- man will be stationed in the Gate- way branch in Springfield, but her responsibilities will include much of the state, from Portland south to the Eugene/Springfield area and east to Central Oregon. “We’re excited for Jessica to take on the role as vice president, cash management officer & team leader,” said Mike Donaca, vice president of Commercial & Busi- ness Banking. “Her 20 Under 40 Award is just the icing on the cake for an already stellar career serv- ing Oregon businesses. With her impressive experience and skill- set, we’re confident in her ability to take our cash management pro- gram to the next level." Redman grew up in Bend and settled in Eugene after graduating from Oregon State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Redman also serves as a Steering Committee Chair for Leadership Eugene Spring- field, Advisory Board Chairman for the Alpha Xi Chapter of Kap- pa Alpha Theta, and as a member of Springfield Rotary. In her free time, she enjoys playing golf and exploring the Pacific Northwest with her partner, Carlos, and their two corgis.
