Mi- ami-Dade County court records show that Stoudemire, 40, was arrested early Sunday and later released on $1,500 bond with a no-contact order issued. According to a copy of the police report obtained by The Miami Herald, Stoudemire al- legedly struck one of his two teenage daughters during an ar- gument at his Miami home. The report did not identify which of Stoudemire's two daughters, ages 17 and 14, was hit. Stoudemire allegedly con- fronted the girl and then accused her of being disrespectful to his mother during a phone call, according to the police report. When she denied it, he told her, "You're talking back again," and punched her in the jaw, leaving her bleeding, the report says. The girl contacted her moth- er, Stoudemire's ex-wife, who came to pick up the two girls and their two brothers, and con- tacted police. “I observed blood stains on the victim’s sweater and sweat- pants,” the arrest report states, per the Herald. “The mother Former NBA basketball player Amar'e Stoudemire watches during the second half of an NBA basketball game between the Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings, Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, in Miami. He then invoked his right to remain silent. Stoudemire denied the allega- tion against him in a statement posted on social media. “As the investigation unfolds, the facts will show the allega- tions to be groundless as my daughter’s medical condition is not the result of being assaulted by a father who is nearly 7 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds,” he continued. “I could never see myself assaulting any person, especially my children. I respect, protect, and love my family, par- ticularly my children. As a fa- ther, I ask for your grace as we secure our space and privacy.” Miami Police officials did not immediately respond to a phone message from The Asso- ciated Press.
