Deadly Hit and Run
A motorist was arrested Sunday in con-
nection with a hit-and-run death of a
pedestrian outside the Goodfoot music
club on Southeast Stark early Sunday
morning. Frederick James Ryerson, 20,
is charged with failure to perform the du-
ties of a driver to an injured person and
may face additional charges. Christopher
Brian Chandler, 34, died from injuries he
suffered in the crash.
Retail Crime Spree Broken
Three people were arrested and 45
large trash bags of stolen property
valued at 50,000 or more were seized
last week by police in connection
with a retail theft investigation in
southeast Portland. Many of the sto-
len items, mostly clothing and shoes,
had the tags and security sensors still
attached. Jabril Coleman, 20, Cache
Coleman, 18, and JocCrystal Johnl Jack-
son, 21, face multiple counts of theft.

Man Kills Gay Cousin
A Multnomah County jury on Thursday
found a man guilty of manslaughter for
shooting his gay cousin in an attack prose-
cutors said might have been motivated by
homophobia. Brandon Alexander Hick-
man, 30, must serve a 10-year-prison sen-
tence, which is far lighter than the life sen-
tence he was facing if convicted of murder
in the death of Makeitho “Tito” De Monz
Herring, 37.
