Photographic Essays Concordia University Libraries’ Art and Culture Program is excited to present an array of artistic pho tography centralized around the beauty of nature and people alike. The exhibit, which opens on Monday, Jan. 5 on the northeast Portland campus, will feature Bruce Lee, who has an extensive portfolio featuring photos of nature, city, people, and many other categories, as well as a number of Portland area photographers. The art can be viewed during normal library hours for the duration of the exhibit which runs through the month of January at the George R. White Library and Learning Center. A catered “Meet the Artists” reception will be held on Sunday, Jan. 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Both exhibit and catered reception are free and open to the public. The legendary Motown super- stars The Spinners headlined the annual charity event with plenty of people grooving to the group’s songs of yesteryear both inside and outside of the packed convention center ballroom. “Each year, it just gets bigger and better” said Dr. Richard Bergstrom of Portland. The Dec. 6 festivities which at tracted more than 750 guests, in conjunction with the Jay’s African American Chamber of Commerce, encouraged contributions to se lected charities and non-profits in the Portland area including Lines for Life, Highland’s Haven, the M.I.K.E. Program and Project Clean The Spin ners put on a show to remember for Roy Jay’s holiday event. Slate/Project Second Chance. Grand prizes included a 2014 Toyota Prius, Portland Trail Blazers courtside seats, color televisions and much more. KATU anchor Steve Dunn was the emcee of the event for the fourth straight year. Comedian Erik Schwartz and The Brown Sisters kicked off the show which also included a full meal from award winning Oregon Convention Center chef Alan Wambaa.
