Recruiting Women in Math and Science Oregon State U niversity has been awarded a $3.5 m illion grant from the N ational Science Foun dation to im prove conditions for wom en in the academ ic science, te c h n o lo g y , e n g in e e rin g and math, or STEM , disciplines. The financial support will be used to help recruit, retain and prom ote m ore wom en in STEM and the social and behavioral sci ences at OSU; provide support for wom en in STEM and im ple m ent policies and program s that aid in these efforts. Women have historically been underrepresented in the STEM fields -«in academia.
