T hro u g h these co n certed e f forts, w e have m ade som e progress. M ore p eople are n o w aw are o f the abuse that w om en and girls face daily (prim arily at h o m e) th ro u g h out the U nited States. It has been no sm all feat to fi nally realize public law s that hold perpetrators acco u n tab le fo r such violent acts. L aw en fo rcem en t and local and state courts reco g n ize the problem and have jo in e d w o m e n ’s advocacy groups to help turn the rising tide o f violence around.
