Johns
Parade
The annual St. Johns Bizarre takes
place on Saturday, May 10, from 10
a.m. to 7 p.m., the same day as the
historic St. Johns Parade, a north
Portland favorite for 52 years. The
parade starts at noon.
The Bizarre is the perfect kick-off
event for Portland’s vibrant street
fair season, with an eclectic lineup

brewed libations.
Organizers have worked to put
together an eclectic lineup of bands
that will be treading the boards of
the Plaza Stage, located at the foot­
age of the majestic St. Johns Bridge.

Pain, Aan, Illmaculate, Summer Can­
nibals and the Edna Vázquez Quin­
tet.

residents age 99 and older on

special birthday cake from New
Seasons Market; “Happy Birth­
day” will be sung by local ac­
tress and singer Susannah Mars;
with more entertainment by the
Millenium Clarinets Quartet and
the Ballroom Dance Company.

olds set in Essex, UK in 2009.

Sunday Brunch for Moms
Honor mom with a delicious spread courtesy o f the Oregon
Zoo. The zoo’s annual M other’s Day brunch takes place from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in the Cascade Crest banquet
center.
This year’s menu includes m ade-to-order omelets and
waffles, bagels with house-cured lox, bacon and eggs, pastries,
seasonal fruit and more.
The all-you-care-to-eat buffet is $30 for ages 12 and up, and
$ 13 for children ages 2-11. All revenue from the M other’s Day
brunch supports the zoo’s work in conservation, education and
animal welfare.
