A special show at Jimmy Mak’s
on Saturday, Oct. 12, will celebrate
30 years of Portland’s Norman
Sylvester Band.
“Blues Stains on My Hands,”
will feature perform ances by
“Boogie Cat” Norman Sylvester,
Rob Shoemaker, Janice Scroggins,
LaRhonda Steele, Lenanne
Sylvester, Sarah Billings, Renato
Caranto, Paul Shoemaker and spe
cial guest appearances from past
band members.
Sylvester’s blues and R&B band
has featured many of Northwest’s
finest musicians over the past three
decades. The musician has put out
four all original CD’s; On the Right
Track, It ain’t nothing but a Party,
Family Affair and the latest. Blues
Stains on my Hands.
Through his songs, Sylvester’s
life and the band’s musical journey
play out like a novel you can’t put
down.
The evening at the downtown
club will feature the stories of
Sylvester’s Teamster days at a truck
ing company that went broke, the
struggles raising his family, sweet
subjects of the heart, and his de
sires to play his music.
The community is invite'd to be a
part of this intimate concert. Not
many other local bands have been
together through so many changes
in the world.
