A special show at Jimmy Mak’s on Saturday, Oct. 12, will celebrate 30 years of Portland’s Norman Sylvester Band. “Blues Stains on My Hands,” will feature perform ances by “Boogie Cat” Norman Sylvester, Rob Shoemaker, Janice Scroggins, LaRhonda Steele, Lenanne Sylvester, Sarah Billings, Renato Caranto, Paul Shoemaker and spe­ cial guest appearances from past band members. Sylvester’s blues and R&B band has featured many of Northwest’s finest musicians over the past three decades. The musician has put out four all original CD’s; On the Right Track, It ain’t nothing but a Party, Family Affair and the latest. Blues Stains on my Hands. Through his songs, Sylvester’s life and the band’s musical journey play out like a novel you can’t put down. The evening at the downtown club will feature the stories of Sylvester’s Teamster days at a truck­ ing company that went broke, the struggles raising his family, sweet subjects of the heart, and his de­ sires to play his music.
