Church Leaders Meet in Seattle
The 121st Oregon-Washington Annual Confer­
ence of the Western Episcopal District was held in
Seattle July 9-14 and convened at Ebenezer A. M. E.
Zion Church.
The Right Rev. W. Darin Moore, presiding bishop
of conference’s Cascade District read the following
appointments for 2013-14:
The Rev. Robert N. Probasco Sr., pastor of First A. M.
E. Zion Church in Portland; the Rev. Levi Harris, pastor
of Pauline Memorial A. M. E. Zion Church in Salem; the
Rev. JoyceM. Smith, pastor of Community A. M. E.Zion
Church in Vancouver; and the Rev. Robert F. Kemp,
presiding elder of the Cascade District.
Sis. R. Renee Hollinshed and Sis. Rubye D. Hayden
were admitted into the conference as Traveling Min­
isters on Trial.

will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m.
at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church,
4009 N. Missouri Ave. A potluck celebra­
tion of life party will follow the services at
Billy Webb Elks Lodge, 6 N. Tillamook St.
He was bom Feb. 10,1968 in Portland
to Larry Hickman Sr. and Carol Hickman.
He passed away on July 19,2013.
Survivors include his wife Danielle
Hickman; daughters Sinclair, Breannaand
Dominique; grandchildren Brandon and
Forever Loved and Missed

He lived his entire
childhood and a por­
tion o f his adult life in
the Albina community of
north and northeast Port
land. His nickname was "Shogun,
and he was true to his warrior image
even as he faced his toughest oppo­
nent; pancreatic cancer.
He was passionate about his fam­
ily which includes his wife, Janice
Hoggans; his sister Barbara Ducket;
his children Jason Hoggans, Kevin
Cottrell Blanchard, Brandi Hoggans,
Bradford Hoggans, Brandon

Hoggans, and Blake
and
B rayden
H oggans. He had
many grandchildren,
n ieces, nephew s,
and cousins, friends
and associates by
whom he will forever
loved and missed.
After years in addic­
tion and incarceration, he
was determined to change
his life and dedicate it to the heal­
ing of his African-American broth­
ers and sisters who were still strug­
gling with addiction.
He started Life Guide NW in 2010
where he was honored to serve his
clients.

He loved watching sports and
going fishing, and was a true friend
to many, even if some were Dallas
fans (Go 49ers).
