Athlete grows
support for
Australia trip
De La Salle North Catholic junior
Mariah Agnew has been invited to
spend a week this summer partici
pating in Australia’s Down Under
International Games. She would rep
resent Oregon on the West Central
Conference Volleyball Team.
Agnew, the most valuable player
for her high school team this year,
and a second team all-state player in
volleyball, is asking for community
support to pay her expected ex
penses of $5,000.
The young athlete said the Aus
tralia trip would be a powerful expe
rience for her future. She hopes at
tending the tournament will open
opportunity to get noticed by col
lege coaches and attain a scholar
ship.
“It will mean so much to me and
I will appreciate all of those who
help me out on this spectacular ex
perience,” she said.
Agnew plans to attend the Uni
versity of Oregon to play volleyball.
It is also her goal to make it to the
Olympics.
