p.m. at the New Beginnings Conference Center, 3300 N.E.

‘Keep Alive the Dream’
an annual Portland showcase
World Arts Foundation, Inc. is proud to produce “Keep Alive
the Dream ,” Portland’s 28th consecutive tribute to a great
American hero and world citizen, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This year s celebration will be held at the New Beginnings
Conference Center, 3300 N.E. 172nd (off Sandy Boulevard) on
the MLKnational holiday,Monday, Jan.21,from 11 a.m .to6:30
p.m.
The theme of this year’s program is Standing on the Shoulders.
“W e not only stand on the shoulders of those who have come
before us, but also those who are among us,” said organizers of
the event.
The program includes an array o f community speakers from
various civic and social community organizations.
Featured artists will include the Jefferson Dancers; the Ghana­
ian Kukatonon African Drummers and Dancers; aPortland string
quintet; the Aurora Choir; and Portland Public Schools elemen­
tary and high school bands and choirs.
The Dream Village, a marketplace where vendors and exhibi­
tors offer local arts, products, services and information, will be
open during the event.
“Keep Alive the Dream ” is a com m unity event for all ages,
promising to be an exciting celebration of entertainment, educa­
tion, multicultural exchange and tasty dining.
The expansive 12,000 square foot New Beginnings facility
provides a new dimension to the television and live production
quality that ensures a spectacularly improved celebration. The
program will be audio/video streamed on the Internet, Portland

» Jr Public Schools Television Services, Portland Cable Media, and
KBOO Radio (90.7 FM.)
The City of Roses will showcase the legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. by honoring him with a variety o f cultural
expressions o f song, oration, dance and drumming.
