Colored Pencils
group celebrates
Celebrate the coming together of
Portland's diverse communities of
all abilities at Colored Pencils Arts
and Culture Night, scheduled for
Friday, June 29 at the Oregon His
torical Society, 1200S.W. Park Ave.,
downtown.
The mission of the Colored Pen
cils Art and Culture Council is to
uphold the dignity of all people by
creating an artistically and cultur
ally rich environment where every
one feels safe to express their
uniqueness.
Honoring the founding tribes of
Oregon, a Native American perfor
mance will start off the evening.

émigrés from Mexico and Zimba
bwe will follow to continue to con
nect the past to the breadth of
Portland’s newcomer experiences.
Singer and songw riter Edna
Vazquez spent her first 16 years in
Jalisco, Mexico. Since coming to the

States, Vazquez has pursued her
music career, writing songs and
p erform ing at various venues
throughout Oregon, as well as in
nationally televised shows and con
tests.

Along with the B-52s, the zoo
concert series will be showcasing a
