Executive Director of Portland
Children’s Museum.
Icons from nature are hidden
within for open-ended scavenger
hunts, and there is a gentle grass
hill with a telescope dock, benches
and picnic tables.
The centerpiece of Zany Maze,
however, is a beautiful Music
Tree, which is decorated with imag

the great outdoors.
This exciting space also func

gallery, with art installations made
by children, for children.
Zany Maze is merely Phase I of a
long-range outdoor exhibit plan for
the museum. Throughout the next
18-months, Phase II will transform
46,000 square feet into a natural,
inspiring, all-season exhibit for chil

“Because Zany Maze is free and
ADA accessible, anticipation is
high,” says Melody Bridges, the
museum’s director of marketing,
communications and sales. “We
expect over 350,000 visitors per year
will play, learn and discover in this
new community space.”
