Workshops Inspire Literary Arts
The non-profit organization Write Around
Portland, in honor of their 13th year of service,
will offer free writing workshops on Saturday,
May 5, from 10-12 p.m., to engage the com m u­
nity in the literary arts.
The free, two-hour creative writing work­
shops are held to inspire new people in the literary
arts right where they live, work and convene.
Although Write Around Portland traditionally
holds workshops in partnership with social ser­
vice agencies forpeople living in poverty, dealing
with illness or experiencing isolation, the Satur­
day WRITE! workshops are open to everyone.
The workshops will be held at Eastminster
Presbyterian Church, 12505 NE Halsey Street;
Oregon Jewish Museum, 1953 N.W. Kearney
St.; Mercy Corps, 45 S.W. Ankeny St, with one
lesson facilitated in American Sign Language;
and Miracle Theatre, 537 S.E. Stark, where the
event will be facilitated in Spanish.

Screen-Free Week — It’s the week you and your
family turn off the TV and computer and engage in
healthy, movement activities. Community centers run
by Portland Parks and Recreation are holding special
programs and activities for Screen-Free Week, April 29
through May 6.
