The free exhibit will showcase L au’s hand-painted paper dress collages and multi-media paintings of objects Baby Boomers grew up with such as Converse shoes, tran sistor radios, VW vans, vintage kitchen tools and Catholic school uniforms. The work will be on display in the center’s gallery at 701 S.E. Grand A v e ., starting with an opening re ception on Friday, April 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and continuing until May 1. Lau’s works most often with acrylic and mixed media, though often she expands into ink, colored pencil and watercolor. Sue began her study of art with an interior design degree. As her children grew and her inner artist transitioned, she made a career change and has been an art instructor and visiting artist in many Portland area schools. “Children have taught me about art,” she said. “They have influ enced my style with their sense of humor and broad use of color. When I paint I have a strong concept, but ultimately the outcome is like hang ing on to the leash of a big rambunc tious dog on an unexplored trail. The end result is always a bit of a surprise.” During her exhibit, Lau will be conducting a hands-on art program for kids at the Architectural Heri tage Center. _______ R eligion In Loving Memory Ramon D.
