eye exam s have been available
at O p eratio n O v erco at thanks
to the C asey Eye Institute.
All the item s distributed at the
event w ere donated. O ver 150
volun teers o rg an ized the event,
they sorted clothing and p re ­
pared and served m eals.
U nion G ospel M issio n has
been h o sting the annual O p era­
tion O vercoat event for 12 years.

The University of Portland Uni­
versity Singers, W omen’s Chorale,
and Jazz Band will be performing
their first concert of the year at 3 p. m.
Sunday, Oct. 2.
The concert will be in the Buckley
Center Auditorium on the Univer­
sity of Portland campus, 5000 N.
Willamette BI vd. The concert is free
and open to the public.

The event, which is dedicated
to transform ing youth one parent
at a time, will give parents through­
out Portland a chance to have a
fresh take on developing self­
esteem and self discipline.

workshop, which will be open to
everyone with suggested dona­
tions.

Church Hosts Parents Workshop
In an effort to help prepare
sons and daughters o f the com ­
munity to be the most successful
in their own lives, Dr. Jay Klusky
and the V ancouver Avenue First
Baptist Church will hold a w ork­
shop event for parents to learn
new skills on how to help their
children m eet today’s challenges.
