The 24th annual event presented
by First Tech Federal Credit Union
brings more than 125 stellar perfor­
mances on five stages plus fire­
works, workshops, dances, blues
cruises and more.
The festival is also Oregon Food
Bank's largest annual fundraiser.
One-hundred percent of donations
support Oregon Food Bank's mis­
sion to eliminate hunger and its root
causes.

Admission to the 2011 Safeway
Waterfront Blues Festival, includ
ing the fireworks show, is a dona­
tion of $ 10 (or more) plus two cans
(or more) of nonperishable food.
The powerhouse roster includes
six-time Grammy Award winner
Buddy Guy, Maceo Parker, Robert
Cray, Lucinda Williams, Chubby
Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band,
Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville's
Dumpstaphunk, Orgone, Bobby
Radcliff, Black Joe Lewis and the
Honeybears, the Honey Island
Swamp Band, Steve Riley and the

The Twangshifters will open the first summer
concert of the season at Mt. Tabor Park on
Tuesday, July 5 and concerts will continue through
a performance by The Midnight Serenaders at
east Portland's Ventura Park on Aug. 31.
Last year, over 100 neighborhood sponsors
brought 41 concerts to parks throughout the city.

Free Summer Concerts at Parks
This summer neighborhood parks near you
are hosting a variety of free concerts featuring
funk, pop, rock, Afro beat, country, salsa,
swing, Celtic, jazz, soul, and Zydeco.
Portland Parks and Recreation has worked
with neighborhoods to discover the music
each would like featured in their local park,
then area businesses lend sponsor support to
make the concerts possible.
