King, is being rem em bered.
M oody died T hursday at San
D iego H ospice after battling p an ­
creatic cancer. He w as 85.
M oody is best know n for his
1949 hit "M oody's M ood for Love,"
an interpretation o f the 1935 ballad
"I'm in the M ood for Love."
W ynton M arsalis told the San
D iego U nion-T ribune that M oody
w as a "titan o f o u r m usic."
M oody w as n om inated for four
G ram m ies. He received a 1998 N a­
tional E ndow m ent for the A rts Jazz
M asters aw ard and a 2007 K ennedy
C en ter Living Jazz L egend A w ard.
