off when “Let Me Entertain,”
the first sizzling single off debut
album Rose Bent, scored radio

Alcoholic Energy Drinks
Removed from Market
Ban takes effect immediately
At a special m eeting on Sat
urday, the C om m issioners of
the O regon L iq u o r C o n tro l
Com m ission voted 4-1 in favor
o f banning alcoholic energy
drinks from being sold in the
state o f Oregon.
The decision cam e as a re
sult of new inform ation regard
ing O L C C ’s legal options con
cerning alcoholic energy drinks
as well as a recent ruling from
the U.S. Food and Drug A d
m inistration declaring that the
drinks were unsafe.
“The OLCC has been con
cerned about the health risks
o f these products for som e
tim e,” says OLCC Chairm an
Philip Lang. “It’s unfortunate
that so m any young people
around the country were hurt
by these products. W e’re glad
that we can play a role in pre
venting that from happening
here in the future.”
The seven products affected
by the ban include Core High
G ravity HG G reen, Core High
G ravity HG O range, Lem on
Lim e Core Spiked, M oonshot,
Four Loko, Joose, and Max.
The drinks were determ ined
to be “adulterated” products
by the FDA because they con
tain the “unsafe food additive”
o f caffeine. The ban on these
products will be effective im
mediately.
The temporary rule adopted
today will be effective until May
18. During that time, OLCC staff
will begin permanent rulemaking
concerning alcoholic energy
drinks. The special commission
meeting was held at 3:30 p.m.,
Saturday, Nov. 20 at the OLCC
headquarters in Milwaukie.
