Walker died last Friday in Chi cago. She was "a living legend" who was responsible for launch ing more than a dozen careers o f gospel artists. W alker form ed her own gos pel group, the C aravans, as a Albertina Walker y o u n g w o m a n - an d w as a protégé o f gospel star M ahalia Jackson. U.S. C ongressm an Bobby Rush called W alker a voice for the civil rights movement. He says her music was "a healing balm to those who struggled for justice." Rest In Peace My Love V anessa Loving Father Remembered Tony Agnew Oct. 18,1971— Sept. 27,2010 A funeral for Tony Agnew was held Oct 6,2010 at First AME Zion Church. He was bom Oct. 18, 1971, the youngest son to Don and Margaret Agnew. His father preceded him in death. He attended Roosevelt High School where he excelled on the varsity football team and graduated in 1990. He was also a member o f the Teamsters Dairy Bakery and Food Local 305 for more than 16 years. In 1997, he married Lana Justice. They were blessed with three chil d ren , D aV o n te, M ariah , and Makayla. Tony was truly a family man. He loved his wife and children He was a very generous man and had a positive impact on many young people in the Portland metro area. He spent many hours coach ing in the youth football leagues. He continuously opened his home to family and friends. His barbecues were legendary and something that he enjoyed sharing. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his living, his wife, children and m other; his sisters, C harlesetta G rayson and Ruthie G ra y s o n - L e v e r in g ; b ro th e rs very much. He worked hard to pur Charles Lee Grayson, Edward Lee chase a home and to provide for his Grayson, Don A lbert Agnew Jr. family. He was very involved with and M ichael Todd Agnew; and a the activities that his children par host o f nieces, nephew s, cousins, ticipated in. Tony made it a priority and friends. to attend all o f their games and Arrangements entrusted to Terry events. Family Funeral Home. Memory Andre Payton Andre Dupree Payton was bom April 21,1991 at OHSU to Salena Harris and Armondo Payton. He attended Sabin Elementary School, Beaumont Middle School and graduated with the Grant High School Class o f 2010. Throughout grades 2-12, Andre attended programs at Self En hancement, Inc. in north Portland where he was an inspiration to m entors, coordinators and his peers. Andre was m aking plans for his future and had options o f attending college, finding stable work or ju st taking a break be fore strategically planning his next life-making move, however those goals will never be accom plished. He was taken from us way too soon. In his 19 years o f life, Andre showed so many people so much love. He gave so m uch o f him se lf in a way that m ade people feel special. He im pacted so m any people with his quirky ways and beautiful smile.
