Funeral for Brothers Redesign Moves Forward A service for two brothers who died tragically was held Saturday at Maranatha Church in northeast Portland. Aaron C ampbell died Jan.29 in a confrontation with police. His brother I iinothy Douglass died that same day from a heart attack. See related story, front page. The process for redesigning o f Portland’s high schools contin ued Monday with a resolution before the school board. The effort is meant to address the unequal offerings in courses in Portland high schools, re February 10, 2010 duce the drop out rate, and increase diversity. But it will likely lead to the closure o f a school. Mayor Promotes Jobs Portland M ayor Sam Adams gave his second State o f the City ad- on Friday. Employment was a p re v a le n t th em e in A dam s’ speech. They m ayor hopes to a t tract new sustainable technologies to Portland, and improve educa tion in the city. Bike Plan Delayed People packed City Council cham bers last week as commissioners mulled over a 2030 bike plan that would ad 700 miles o f bike lanes. Despite a lot o f support, there was no agreem ent on how to pay for the $631 million proposal. City Council delayed voting on it, but Adam s assured supporters it would pass.
