Hip Hop Crewat Someday
Doomtree, a hip hop crew
from Minneapolis, Minn., will
perform during a free concert,
Monday, July 20 at Someday
Lounge, 125 N.W. Fifth Ave.
The group unveils intriguing
lyrics and bizarre space-age
sounds that you can shake a
stick at, including calypso,
sm ooth ja z z , funk, punk,
grindcore, and on and on -- all
over a bed of quick and clever
rhymes.
Dessa, Doomtree's only fe­
male rapper, balances out the
male hysteria on "Dots and
D ashes," and several other
songs.
The concert will also feature
the hip hop group Animal Farm
and D o cto r A dam , one o f
Portland's most arresting hip
hop, pop and e le c tro club
decjay.
Family Day at Art Museum
On Sunday, July 19, from
noon to 5 p.m., fam ilies can
enjoy free adm ission to the
Portland Art Museum and cel­
ebrate Indian art and culture
with food, music, dance, and
art-making for all ages.
This very special even, cel­
ebrates the Museum's recently
acquired sculpture of Ganesha,
the elephant-headed, candy-
loving, dancing Hindu god of
yoga and wisdom.

sculpture court, fam ilies can

bhangra dance lesson, enjoy
snacks from Indian food carts,
and ge, their hands painted
with henna designs.

Park Blocks, families can take
a yoga lesson, make a color­
ful Indian sand painting to
take home, or help decorate a
giant papier-m ache statue of
G anesha with paint, glitter,
and fresh-flower garlands. In­
