Marimba
Concert
The high-energy music of African marimba is coming to northeast Portland's Evangel Baptist Church.
Sixty students of local musician
MyLinda King will bring high-en­
ergy marimba music from Zimba­
bwe. Botswana and South Africa to
Portland during a special concert
on Saturday, April 21 from 12:30
p.m. to5:30p.m . at Evangel Baptist
Church, 2830 N.E. Elanders St.
Admission is free, but donations
will be accepted to buy marimbas
for Buckman Elementary students.
All ages are welcome .

Venue Grows for Irish Singer

Damien Rice will perform April 26at
8 p.m. at the Rose Quarter after his
scheduled show at the Roseland
Theater sold out. All tickets sold for
the Roseland will be honored.
Rice’s powerful voice was dis­
covered hy many when he released
his first single “The B low er’s
Daughter,” an instant Top 20 hit in
the fall of 2001. He released an al­
bum “O” in the United States in
2(X)3 and recorded his second al­
bum “9” last year.
