for direct supervision of daily shift
activities in the Field Operations
business unit which provides on­
street and com m unication
com m and center support to
TriMet’s integrated fixed-route bus
and light rail system . The
successful candidate will have the
ability to work with all levels of the
organization, ensuring the
successful implementation of
strategies that deliver safe,
reliable, and courteous public
transportation service.
Qualified Candidates will have the
following background:
• Bachelor’s degree in business
administration, transportation
management, logistics, or related
field.
• Five years of operational
su pervisory experience in a
service, transportation or security
related industry. Experience in
managings union workforce in a
twenty-four hour, seven day a
week operation preferred.
• Equivalent com bination of
tra in in g
and
experience
considered.

Funeral services for Georgia
Marie Taylor were held Tuesday,
Nov. 7 at Bethel AMF Church in
northeast Portland.
She was bom Nov.
23.1924 in Texarkana,
Ark., the third child of
three d au g hters to
G eorge and C allie
Stamps. She entered
eternity on Nov. 1,
2006.
She moved to New York
City after graduating from Booker
T. W ashington High School in
Texarkana in 1942 and attended
beauty school. She later relocated
to Portland where she met and mar­
ried Fred Taylor Jr. who died in
1966. From this union came two
sons, G regory Allen and Fred

Mrs. Thay Mitchell Carter,
68, a former Portland resident
died Oct. 28,2006.
Funeral services were sched­
uled Wednesday, Nov. 8 at the
Forney Church o f Christ in
Forney, Texas.
Survivors include her hus­
band. Eugene Carter; three sons,
Marlon, Anthony and Darnell;
twodaughters, Dorisand Aprel;
2()grandchi Idren; and her mother
Thressia Dell Colbert.

Mrs. Taylor was also known for
her green thumb. She spent her
leisure time planting, growing and
enjoying plants and flowers. She
seemed to be very close to nature.
Her flowers and plants brought her
extreme pleasure.
She was preceded in death by
her husband and son Fred Taylor
III; daughter Kathy, sisters, Willie
Stamps and Ernestine Thurman;
and a niece, Hazel Stamps.
She will be dearly missed by her
loving family; son Gregory and his
wife Alandria Taylor; daughter
Margo; three grandchildren, Will­
iam. Rashod, and Morgan; a great
g ra n d d a u g h te r, Jo rd a n ; the
S h o fn e r’s o f D enver, C o lo .;
McAllister’s of Jefferson, Texas;
Campbell’s of Pasco, Wash.; and
host of other relatives and friends.

ment. She was lovingly
known as "Ms. Lerner"
due to her warm greet-

bright smile and friendly
personality.
She was a faithful mem-
berof Bethel A.M.E. Church,
serving in the Matron Club and
staying involved in the Zodiac Tea
and other church activities.
She was a friend and neighbor
with out reservations. As a volun­
teer in the schools where her chil­
dren attended, she was a parent
and grandparent extraordinaire.
