l)e La Salle North Catholic
High School will upgrade to a
larger facility, just a few blocks
east of its current intersection
near North Lombard Street, tak
ing over the location of now-
closed Kenton Elementary, 7528
N. Fenwick Ave.
Facing a budget crisis, the
Portland Public School Board
closed Kenton last year, leav
ing an empty shell and a ques
tionable future. But last week,
the private school agreed to a
20-year lease with the district,
and beginning early next year
will expand their enrollment
from 220 to .300 at the 2.3-
elassroom Kenton site. De La
Salle also plans to construct a
gymnasium and chapel on the
site.
