Songwriter's lead
single ‘Blackout’
keeps climbing charts
Mashonda
Soulful singer/songw riter M ashonda will
make her album debut with "January Joy” on
Oet. 18. W ith a discography that would make
any R&B debutante blush, M ashonda has re­
m ained m ostly a behind-the-scenes force until
now.
M ashonda is established as a w ell-know n,
respected songw riter within music industry circles
as the driving force behind hooks in E ve’s "G otta
M an" and Jay-Z ’s "G irl’s Best Friend.”
H er album ’s lead single, “ B lackout,” featuring Snoop
Dogg, is a bouncy, dance-floor rattling track set to becom e
a party anthem . M ashonda em braces her fellow music
contemporaries by collaborating on the album with Grammy-
aw ard w inners Kanye W est and Raphael Saadiq, as well
as hip-hop stars Jadakiss and Nas.

Tillamook Hosts Seafood Festival

and 2 at the T illam ook County
Fairgrounds, in a celebration of
cultural diversity featuring styles
o f m usic, food and art from all
over the world.
Most than 20 upscale restau­
rants and caterers will be on hand
w ithjam balaya, crab cakes, seafood
fettuccine, shrimp cocktail, scampi,
sushi, sm oked oysters and salmon,
and clam chowder. Desserts and
Tillam ook ice cream, along with O r­
egon m icrobrews and wineries, will

A variety o f Oregon artists
w ill also show case stained
glass, woodcarvings, ceram ­
ics, glass floats, jew elry, paint­
ings, sculptures, fiber arts and
baskets.
The festival runs Saturday,
Oct. 1 from 10a.m. to9p.m .and
Sunday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. Admission is $6 adults
on Saturday, $5 on Sunday and
$4 for Seniors and children ages 6
to 12. All admission proceeds will
benefit art literacy programs in
T illam ook County Elem entary

celebrated rap's pioneers at the sec­
ond annual “Hip-Hop Honors.”
“ It’s som ething that docum ents
hip-hop history, and I’m glad to be
a part o f it," said Big D addy K aneof
the evening.
He received the night’s biggest
ovation Thursday with his sizzling
p erfo rm an ce o f his c lassic hit
