he said. "She’s very much appreciated.”
Despite his former eight years o f executive expe
rience with Nike, Inc., his current roles as chief
executive officer and president of Quicktrack, and
chair of the Portland Development Commission,
Hennessee doesn’t see him self as a major local
player.
“I see myself as a part o f a much bigger family. I see
myself as a catalyst to bring about economic and
social change. I’m humbled and honored to be elected
and to serve at a time like this,” he said. “My hope
would be that w e’ 11 come together even better with a
number of efforts to bring churches together, to bring
pastors together to create a vision for what w e'd like
to see in north and northeast Portland. I’m excited
about the church, the possibilities, and the future."
The installation celebration will begin Saturday,
May 28, during a banquet that also recognizes the
Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church’s 60th anni
versary. The event will be held at the Holiday Inn
Convention Center, 1441 N.E. 2nd Ave., starting at
6:30p.m.
Mrs. King, Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski and
other community leaders and dignitaries will speak
during the celebration. Tickets for the banquet can be
purchased at any Safeway store ticket outlet for $34
per person.

day, May 2 9 at 3:30p.m. at thechurch. Mrs. King will

Dear Confused:
You heal by realizing as a woman of
faith that when you play with the
Devil you get burned. Stop giving
this loser your time, thoughts and
energy. Find another job so you
don' t have to look at the scrub or be
part of his big pimping. You got
your money, now move on, reclaim
your faith and keep it moving.
