Volvo S40 has vibrant styl­
ing and stimulating driving char­
acteristics. The body style is
smooth with round com ers on
the front end o f the vehicle.

Although it is a com pact size
vehicle it offers a spacious
cabin room with an airy feel­
ing.
The V olvo outfits the S40
with two different treatm ents
o f an in-line 5-cylinder power
train. The S40 2.4i has a 2.4
liter with 168-hpw itha5-speed
manual or autom atic transm is­
sion with Geartronic shift mode.
The S 40T 5 gets a 2.5 liter low-
pressure turbo five-pack with
218-hp and an optional 6-speed
manual or 5-speed Geartronic
autom atic. The T5 also has the
o p tio n a l o f a ll-w h e e l-d riv e
(AW D) system . The base price
starts at $23.560 ranging to
$28,170.
Legroom is sufficient from
the back to the front seating
with w hiplash protection for all
passengers. The center console
has a narrow layout with sev­
eral trim options, faced in shiny
metal. A clean uncluttered lay­
out orients the driver tow ard the
analog instrum ents.
