Local History Preserved
During PCC Construction
A partnership betw een Portland
Community College and the Oregon
Historical Society has helped pre
serve the beloved collection o f the
late Rev. John H. Jackson and other
m em entos o f local A frican A m eri
can history from the C ascade C o m
munity H istory Center.
Jackson’s papers w ere housed
at Terrell Hall on the PCC C ascade
C am pus in north Portland, but with
ongoing construction projects, the
collection w as moved to the O r
egon H istorical Society. T h e co l
lections will m ove back to Terrell
Hall in 2005 when projects on the
expanded cam pus are com plete.
Jackson Hall was nam ed after
the late pastor w ho served M ount
Olivet Baptist C hurch in northeast
Portland and served as d irector o f
the board o f the A lbina M inisterial
A lliance. The cam pus building re
ceived a renovation and new wing
this past year, w hich w as com
pleted in Septem ber. It adds ap
proxim ately 17,500 square feet o f
space and contains six new sci
ence labs and four new classroom s.

sists o f Rev. Jack so n 's serm ons
and m em orabilia, an interpretive

a sacred m usic extravaganza to begin at 7 p.m .,

O ther scheduled perform ances in this holiday

The concert will benefit the E ighty-E ight Keys
School o f the Arts, w hich is scheduled to open this
spring, offering music education. The program will
give children and young adults a chance to w ork
with professional artists w ho specialize in the
areas o f m usic, dance, theater, com edy and p ro
duction.

Jesus chose to com e to earth not
as a conquering King, but as one o f
us. N ot in a royal procession iso

struggle, but placed in a feed trough

everyday realitieso f our li vesso we
could know hint and be invited to be

insure that we find peace by taking
part in a w orld w ithout peace.

loved us so much that he would

lasting peace.

Michael Bolds
Funeral services were held
T u e s d a y , D ec. 9, 2 0 0 3 , in
C ald w ell's C olonial Chapel for
M ichael Bolds, w ho died Dec. 2
at age 50.
Mr. Bolds was born April 8,
1953, in New Orleans. He moved
in 1972 to Portland and w as a
m achinist for W illiam s Controls
for 25 years. In 1974, he married
Shirley G addis.
Survivors include his wife;
daughters, Erica Clayton and
C hriston Bolds; sons, Frederick,
Michael Jr., Melvin and Derrick;
m other, D orothy; sisters, Clara
T o b ias, D orothy M ae H all,
B renda C larendon, Laura Ann
