Stand out perform ances for the night will com e from Kid Q uiz and Portland favorite, M adgesdiq. Kid Quiz consists of two girls from Corvallis who play spooky and ethe real electrónica with beautifully haunting pianos and w hispering voices. They create an underwater fantasy world by weaving soft, sway ing beats and synthesized bleeps around strung out guitar licks and dark, sweet lyrics. Kid Q uiz’s tunes could be the soundtrack for a space aged Cinderella as she runs home from the ball, tattered dress and glass slipper in hand, fading pianos in the distance and beating heart in her chest. M adgesdiq mixes spiced lyrics that create a social commentary about hip-hop’s ills with TV images, aca demic principles and life observa tions into entertaining songs deliv ered with his distinctive monotone. Like the prophets o f the Old Testa ment, M adgesdiq said he com es as an MC to remind his peers and heads what hip-hop truly is. N octurnal has a com plete juice bar upstairs and a w ine and beer lounge dow nstairs for those o f age.
