H oliday cookies, cakes, candy and treats abound and it seem s everyone is serving large meals. For people living with diabetes, healthy holiday eating is essential because proper w eight m anagem ent is very im portant to m aintaining good health. Physicians understand the challenges for d ia betics during the holiday season. “ In addition to rich foods and holiday stresses, people step out o f their usual routines. For in d i viduals with diabetes, this can be an especially challenging tim e o f year. D iabetics m ust m aintain vigilance over their blood-sugar levels, their m edi cation, their diet and ex ercise,” said Dr. Fouad R.
