Israel D avis is building a suc
cessful business as he rebuilds
neglected hom es.
T he northeast Portland re si

D avis G ro u p , P artn ers and
R em odelers. He has 15 y ears
o f experience in the hom e co n
stru ctio n field and is fully li
censed as a c o n tra c to r in both
O regon and W ash in g to n .
“T h e p a p e rw o rk ta k e s a
w eek or so, but the benefits far
outw eigh the task,” he said,
describing the peace o f m ind
that o p e ra tin g by the book
brings.
B om in Freeport, La., D avis
m oved to Portland as a young
man.
He gained his first profes
sional experience as an auto
painter in a custom shop by
restoring old cars and auto up
holstery.
"O ne thing led to another,”
and soon he was painting houses,
he said.
D avis gained extensive ex
perience in rem odeling as an
employee with Drake Construc
tion, w here he said he was en
couraged to excel.
He said the first hom e he
restored to its original gran
deur, was a neglected old house
in the Irvington D istrict, now
valued at a whopping $700,000.

com es in frequently for the b ar

service and hearty portio n s
have made him a regular since
Dixon opened four years ago.
“It’s the kind o f taste that
alw ays m akes you w ant to

Fortunately forthe Dixons and
their customers, paving is now
complete and customers should
find access to some o f the best
ribs in town largely unfettered.
Though traffic has been nar
rowed to a lane in both directions,
Dixon is hopeful light rail access
will bring extra customers and a
little added exposure.
“W hen all is said and done,”
Dixon says o f the project, “most
o f our custom ers will be back.
