Bernard Devers of San Antonio, Texas united in holy matrimony with the former Wanda Smith o f Vancouver, Washington. The ceremony was held at the West End Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas, where the groom serves as Pastor. The groom is the former pastor o f the New Hope Baptist Church in Portland. He is the founder and served as the pastor o f the Greater St. Stephen Baptist Church in Portland. In addition, he is the former pastor o f the Progressive Baptist Church in Seattle. The bride is a member o f the Fellowship Baptist Church in Portland, pastored by Dr. Johnny Pack IV, where she is actively in the Ushers Ministry, Bible Study and is the founder and coordinator o f the Home Economics ministry. Mrs. Devers is involved in numerous community organizations such as the Les Femmes Debutante organization as a senior advisor, the Susan Roman Race For The Cure, Am erican’s Walk For Diabetes, Salvation Army Coat and Food Drive and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Devers is a graduate o f Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor o f Arts Degree in Biblical Literature. He received a Masters Degree in Religious Education and a Doctor o f Divinity Degree from the Unitfed Theological Seminary o f Monroe, Louisiana. He also received a Doctrine of Divinity from Guadalupe Baptist Theological Seminary o f San Antonio, Texas. He is on the Board o f several organizations, as well as a teacher in the National Baptist Congress o f Christian workers. A reception for the newlywed couple is planned for early fall. Brown was bom on Dec. 14, 1967 in Redmond, Oregon. He attended Grant High School and resided in Portland for 28 years. Survivors in clude his son, Joe N. Brown, Sr.; mother. Ruby N. Harris Funeral services were held Sept. 12 in Rose City Funeral Home for Susan M. Harris, w hodied Sept. 5 at age 46. She was bom Dee. 21, 1955, in Portland, where she lived all her life. She graduated from Girls Poly technic High School and worked for Oregon Health & Science Uni versity for about 29 years, most recently as an administrative coor dinator. Survivors include her fa ther, Howard; brothers, Daniel and Ja so n ; s te p b ro th e rs , B ruce Killingerand Brent Killinger; sis ters, Evelyn Wheeler, Marquita Goldsby and Korrine Harris; and companion. Phil Sanders. Adam Atma Ram A luneral was held Monday, Sept. 16in Killingsworth LittleChapel of the Chimes for Adam Atma Ram, who died Sept. 12 at age 57. Ram was bom Oct. 17,1944, in Suva, Fiji. He immigrated to Port land in 1987 and was a bus driver for TriMet. Survivors include his sons, L aw rence and Francis; mother. Ram Kuar Lal; brothers, Robert B. Lal, Jack Lal, Francis Lal and Lal Chand; and sisters, Rati B. Prasad and Kamla Dayal. I
