Cultural arts and crafts and demonstrations will be part o f the zoo's annual World Animal Festival. Zoo event celebrates animals from around the world W orld Animal Festival at the O re g o n Z o o is a m ulticultural celebration of animals, showcasing how ani mals have been feared, re vered and celebrated through out the world. The fourth annual event, presented by W eyerhaeuser, is slated for Saturday and Sun day, Sept. 21 and 22, then again on Saturday and Sun day, Sept. 28 and 29. A ctivi ties run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and are free with zoo adm ission. This year, the event’s focus is on the ani mals and cultures of Asia. Throughout the festival’s two weekends, local cultural groups will present their ver sions of animal folklore to zoo guests in a variety of ways, including art exhibits, perfor mance art, and live music. The M ulticultural Resource Center will bring their Japa n ese T e a H o u se on zoo grounds and provide inform a tion on a variety of cultures. In addition, interactive dis plays around zoo grounds will feature take-hom e crafts and educational activities. O ther weekend activities include cultural arts and crafts and dem onstrations, featur ing origam i, Chinese brush painting, Ukrainian egg deco rating, M ahendi body paint ing, M iddle Eastern mosaics and Tibetan rug-making, pup pet shows, storytelling, and Indonesian shadow plays. The fair provides networking opportunities for students, em ployers, and people seeking new career options.
