Shawn Kemp Sabonis Eyes Return to NBA (AP) — Arvydas Sabonis said last week that he wants to return to the NBA. More to the tune of Trail Blazer fans, Sabonis said he wants to return to Portland. Sabonis played for the Blazers for six years before deciding not to renew his contract last season. Now he is reportedly looking for a one- year a contract between six and eight million dollars. The Blazers have no salary cap restraints on how much they can offer Sabonis because they retained the rights to him when he left the league. But Portland is not the only team interested in suiting Sabonis up. A team in Spain has already made the seven- foot-three center an offer believed to be for $10 million over two years.
