Changing Lanes
In the notorious city of Gomorrah, evil warlord Memnon is determined
to lay to waste all the nomadic peoples of the desert. Because the few
remaining tribes are virtually powerless against him, they decide to hire
skilled assassin, Mathayus, to eliminate M emnon’s most prized asset
who lies at the root of M emnon’s power: the sorceress, Cassandra.
M athayus’s plan however, is to kidnap Cassandra rather than kill her.
He knows that if he takes her hostage deep into the desert badlands,
M emnon’s henchman will stop at nothing to rescue her and bring her
back, thus providing the perfect opportunity for Mathayus and Memnon
to face only each other at a final confrontation. (Genre: sequel, action,
Late for court, high-powered attorney Gavin Banek weaves in and out
of heavy traffic. In a different lane is Doyle Gipson, a father whose right
to see his children rests on the decision of a judge with a full docket and
no time to spare. On the surf ace, Banek and Gipson are two very different
men: one seems to have life by the reigns while the other is struggling
to find peace of mind. But a minor accident will drive these two strangers
to the brink of self-destruction, with rage turning them both into beasts.

Marian Anderson was a woman with two
disparate voices. The first-a powerful, majestic
contralto spanning four octaves - catapulted
her from Philadelphia poverty to international
fame. A second, softer voice emanated from her
mere presence: an unwavering refrain of oppor
tunity and accomplishment in the face of racial
prejudice.
Anderson first garnered major acclaim while
studying in London and Berlin. Her break
through in America commenced when impresa
rio Sol Hurok took her under his wing, and her
broad repertoire included Bach and Handel,
spirituals, and German lieder. In 1955, she be
came the first African-American to perform at
the Metropolitan Opera.
From meetings with Anderson before her
death in 1993, Allan Keiler has assembled a
magnificent study o f Anderson's life in “Marian
Anderson, A Singer's Journey.”
