Volunteer Sponsor Needed for African-American
Cultural Club At the Oregon State Penitentiary
Uhuru Sa Sa is an African-American cultural organization, lo
cated at the Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP), in Salem, OR We
are currently In need of an outside volunteer/sponsor.
We are allowed to have cultural and educational seminars on
the 1*' and 3 ,a Thursday of each month, from 12:30 until 3:00
p.m.; however, in order for us to conduct a seminar we must
have an outside sponsor come into the penitentiary (i.e., to
support our program).

Currently, we are conducting our "Life Skills” [training program]
seminars, so that we can teach young/older brothers (i.e., who
have never lived on their own) all the independent living skills
they’ll need to have a better opportunity to make a positive and
successful transition back into the community: and, in order
for us to have these kinds of seminars we need your help and
support.

Notice Of Budget Committee Meeting
A public meeting of the Budget Committee of the Tri-County
M etropolitan Transportation D istrict (Tri-Met), Clackamas,
Multnomah and Washington Counties of Oregon, to discuss
the budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2002 to June 30, 2003,
will be held in Room C of the Portland Building, 1120 S.W. Fifth
Avenue, Portland, Oregon. The meeting will take place on the
March 27, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is
to receive the budget message and to receive comments from
the public on the budget. A copy of the budget document may
be inspected or obtained on or after March 27 at 4012 S.E.

The Department of Environmental Services is requesting the
services of a consulting firm to complete projects in the Johnson
Creek Basin. The desired outcome of the project is to enhance
the Johnson Creek main channel, as well as update the Basin
Master Plan.
The project will plan for, and begin implementation of, projects
that can realistically and systematically be implemented. The
project will be phased in the following way:

Identification and implementation of activities to occur

Preparations for future actions in the Basin that include
the main channel as well as tributary areas.
