Man Killed in New Year’s Fight (AP) - A Portland m an was stabbed to death ju st m in u te s in to th e n ew year. Police say 39-year-old G lenn W ilc h er Jr. was stabbed at least once fol lowing an argum ent with 19-year-old Jeffery Scott Reed. W ilcher and Reed had been in two separate apart ments at a com plex in the 8600 block of North C o lumbia Boulevard. Police said after a short argum ent between the oc cupants of both apartments, Jeffery Scott Reed is charged with murder. Glenn Wilcher Jr. died in a New Year's fight. the two men met near a stair way, and W ilcher died a few m inutes later. Reed has been charged with m urder and is being held without bail. Reserve officers Michael Glass and John W ood with the Portland Police Bureau were standing a few blocks from the scene of an armed robbery on Dec. 9 when they saw Daniel Cromb ride by on a bicycle. Police say Cromb matched the description o f the robber. Glass and Wood ordered him to stop. Investigators later determined the pistol was a nonfunctioning replica but that Glass and Wood had no way o f knowing at the time they fired at Cromb.
