Other music includes Copeland’s “Hoe Down"
from “Rodeo,” Bizet’s “Carmen” Suite No. 1,
along w ith selected m ovem ents from
M endelssohn’s “ Italian ” Sym phony,
Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” ar­
ranged for orchestra by R avel, and
Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake.” The Portland
Youth Philharm nic, conducted by Huw
Edwards, will perform at 5 p.m.
All events are free to the public. As a rule,
alcoholic beverages for personal consumption
will be permitted during concerts only.
Portland’s neighborhood parks will be the
summertime stage for three Oregon Symphony
concerts during the sixth annual ’‘Oregon Sym­
phony in the Neighborhoods,” a city-funded
neighborhood revitalization projects incorporat­
ing local arts groups, community organizations
and, this year, a used instrument drive for VH1
Save the Music.
Two events, which incorporate afternoon fes­
tivities with Symphony performances conducted
by Resident Conductor Murry Sidlin. will be held
at Kenton Park on Sunday, Aug. 26.
The traditional grand finale concert, featuring
Music Director and Conductor James DePriest
conducting Tchaikovsky’s “ 1812Overture,” with
