African Americans by placing its Urban Safety
Vehicle at Mitsubishi's display booth at the Hot
Wheels DC Auto Show, Dec. 26th through Jan.
1st in Washington,D.C.
Next, the Urban Safety Vehicle invaded
Super Bowl weekend in Tampa Bay, Fla. The
campaign teamed with the International Center
for Injury Prevention to distribute information
about car safety at the PLAYERS INC.

Congratulations to the Winners!
African Americans On Wheels won one gold,
three silver and two bronze awards in the mag­
azine division of the IAMC writing awards. A
gold went to Publisher Randi Payton for his
"Why Can't We All Just Buckle Up?"

Silvers went to Joe Sczney for a cover story
on African Americans and the UAW
(Feb/Marchl999); the staff of AAOW for its
2000 Preview (Oct/Nov 1999) and Blair S.
Walker for a road test of the 2000 Nissan
Maxima GLE. Bronze went to Warren Brown
for his columns published in 1999 in AAOW.
And the Winter 2000 issue of AAOW received a
Bronze.
And there's another Winner!
Judy Wooley from Upper Marlboro, Md. is
the winner of the BMW Mountain Bike that
was given away to a lucky reader of African
Americans On Wheels magazine as part of our
"You Are Somebody" Research Survey. All you

cuit in the Craftsman Truck series. Five
African-American auto journalists dined with
Willy T. the night before the first race in
Daytona, Fla., and wished him well just before
